Keep it Simple                                                            By Tanya Nero

Governor Abbott's announcement that Texas schools will remain closed for the duration of the 2019-2020 school year was not a surprise. However, some parents may be wondering how they will manage working remotely and ensure that their child/children are getting the attention academically that they need to be successful?

I encourage you to keep it simple. Everyone is stressed, depressed, or filled with uncertainty. YOU are NOT alone! Here are a couple of things to help you get through the day.  Be intentional, but be flexible. Create a schedule/agenda for the day, Select a specific time to do school work, Identify the location for school to take place, and most importantly Engage with your child(ren) and have discussions about what they learned.

Learning will happen, but make time to spend a couple of minutes with your child(ren) even if they are completing all of their assignments online. When all else fails HAVE FUN!
